Guided tours will be given of this ca. 1850 house constructed prior to the region's oil boom. Learn about the history of its occupants, including the region's "prodigal son" John Washington "Coal Oil Johnny" Steele. The open house will also feature readings from "Oil Tales of the Early Days: Stories for Children" by author Carole E. Hall and illustrator Marcia J. Hall as well as games popular during Johnny's childhood. Re-enactors will portray historic characters and select books will be available for sale. Light refreshments will be on site.
